We unfortunately have to change @Cockpit@fosstodon.org 's CI platform every few years. So today I re-evaluated AWS EC2 and Google Cloud Engine for Cockpit's CI needs, and was pleasantly surprised that the latter works fine now! It was still a disaster in 2022.

New dbusmock release which fixes the grossly outdated documentation/examples, and adds some missing polkitd/logind mock APIs.

#DayOfLearning again! Today I collected some basic #MCP knowledge, and tested out #GitHub #MCP with #claude for triaging/gardening our @Cockpit@fosstodon.org project issues.

TL/DR: Useful for some tasks, but sadly much less capable than I was hoping for. Still, this is am impressive development -- it's now mostly a question of scaling up a bit, not any more of "does this work at all".

This my friends is @CERN@quey.org 's #LHC , the Large Hacker Collider. I finally visited our CI pipeline, where merge proposals bang into the main branch with unfathomable speed and energies, to find new and exciting test failure traces! ⚡ 🤓

I did a #umockdev #release today which should fix the test regression against latest evtest, and four more bug/race fixes.

I finally took the plunge:

❱❱❱ sudo
bash: sudo: command not found

One less #suid root binary on my system! I don't need root on my laptop often anyway, mostly just for the weekly `bootc upgrade` and the occasional journal check. `run0` works just fine for that. (I do pretty much everything in #toolbx)

Now the remaining stuff in `find /usr -perm -4000` has mostly stuff that I don't really need, except `unix_chkpwd` and possibly `pkexec`. Getting closer!

Big thanks to @allsystemsgo@fosstodon.org ! This was once again a fantastic conference, packed with interesting people and talks. There are now so many new cool things on my "to look at" list.

Dear @gnome@floss.social community -- #umockdev is currently (mostly) written in #Vala . Despite being one of the nicest languages I ever used 💗, it feels like I should have a plan B. Is there any other sane language these days (i.e. *not* C) where one can export a #GObjectIntrospection API? #rustlang would be nice, but GI export got stuck in the middle 😢 Is it possible to do in Python, for example?

New #python #dbusmock #release which fixes a race in the dbus-daemon startup, drops the broken iio-sensors-proxy template, and cleans up some old API.
